Mari-Carmen Marcos' Presentation
PhD Mari-Carmen Marcos is a Professor in Information and Library Science at University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona and at the Open University of Catalonia. She also coordinates –and teaches in two Online Masters called Master in Digital Information and Master in Search Engines, among other postgraduate courses in University of Barcelona, University Carlos III, University of Navarra, and so on.
Her area of interest is Interaction Design in Information Retrieval Systems, which is developed in two research groups at UPF: DigiDoc and Web Research Group. She is the scientific editor of the journal Faz, specialized in interaction design and user experience. Since 2004 she organizes the Seminar in Usability in Digital Information Systems as an event of the Catalonian Association of Librarians. Since 2007 she collaborates with the Interaction Design Laboratory (University of North Carolina), where she stayed thanks to a Fulbright fellowship.
She works as a consultancy for companies and public institutions in user experience improvement and search engine optimization projects.
